As an IBDP Math Student, you’ll likely end up having to do the Math IA at some point. If you’re at that stage in your journey, you’ll need to include screenshots of calculation steps you’ve performed on your calculator, but there’s one problem—there’s very little information on how to start capturing the screen on your Casio FX-CG50 calculator. Fortunately, I’ve done the digging for you and here’s the step-by-step tutorial.
Download the Casio Screen Receiver Software
You can do this by going to https://edu.casio.com/forteachers/er/software/ and choosing the operating system you are using. Windows and Mac are supported officially. For whatever reason, this website is hidden from plain sight and you really need to do some digging to get to this part of Casio’s website. I will be using a Mac for this tutorial, but you can follow along on a Windows computer just fine.

Install ScreenReceiver
Once you’ve downloaded the file, unzip the installer and install the software using the .pkg file.

You may be asked for Touch ID during this process.

Once this process is complete, you should see the following appear inside your Mac’s launchpad, or your Windows Start Menu. Open the ScreenReceiver app.

On the Mac, you may have to open System Settings and allow the app to run and grant the necessary permissions if it refuses to open.
Opening the app will present you with the following window:

Prepare your Calculator
Connect your FX-CG50 using the included cable in the box and a dongle, if required. If you have lost access to the cable, you may look for a “Mini USB B” cable on Amazon or at your local electronics shop.

You will be prompted to choose the connection mode, you must press F2 to capture the screen.

This screen may show up, simply click EXIT to continue.

Voilà, your FX-CG50 should now be mirrored to your computer.

To capture the screen, go to the File Menu and click “Capture Screen.”

This will open a new window with the option to save the screen as an image.

And that’s all there is to it! A pretty simple tutorial to get started with screen capture on your FX-CG50 calculator. I hope this helps you in your IBDP journey, or otherwise.
